Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford is committed to furthering diversity, equity and inclusion because all young people deserve the right to be themselves, to feel a sense of belonging, and to have access to opportunities that support their great future.
Our Life & Workforce Readiness programs provide members the support and resources they need to recognize their potential and plan for their future.
These programs inspire kids to explore new opportunities and areas of interest, consider a multitude of career options and make educational choices that put them on the path to a great future.
By the time they graduate high school our members are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to make their dreams a reality and thrive in the world that awaits them.
Money Matters promotes financial responsibility and independence. Participants learn how to create a budget, manage a checking account and investments, start a small business and save for large spending, such as college. The program is designed using the latest research on financial trends and behavioral economics preparing young people for lifelong financial stability and overall success.
Career Launch encourages Club members, ages 13 to 18, to assess their skills and interests, explore careers, make sound educational decisions and prepare to join our nation’s workforce. Through this program, Club teens build their job-search and workforce readiness skills through interactive activities, including building a resume and interviewing. They also participate in mentorship, job shadowing and job training opportunities.
The Junior Staff program introduces Club teens to the workforce in a safe and familiar place – their own Club. This practical program offers young people their first job through a Club apprenticeship honing their work ethic, sense of community responsibility and interpersonal skills. They also explore careers in youth or human services and discover the importance of community service.
Since 2004, Bank of America has helped communities grow and thrive with their student leaders program. It offers exemplary students a paid summer internship with Boys & Girls Clubs and the leadership training they need to be successful in the workforce. The program, open to high school juniors and seniors, includes a national leadership summit in Washington, D.C. Bank of America Student Leaders hone their workforce skills, create a more civically engaged society, prepare to improve their community and build valuable connections for future employment.
We're giving young people the skills they need for wherever life's journey takes them. Join us as we do whatever it takes to help our members reach their full potential!
