As you are likely aware, COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus, has now become a global pandemic. There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among our members or staff. However, we are currently doing all we can to ensure the virus doesn’t spread at our program sites.
Given the rapid spread of the virus in our state, we have made the difficult decision to close our Clubs starting on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, until further notice. During that time, we will deep clean our facilities. This closure ensures all kids, staff and volunteers are safe when the Club reopens.
We fully understand the implications our closure has on your family, and we will continue to provide updates as we have them. Please ensure you are signed up for your Club REMIND 101 group to obtain the latest information (see below for each Club’s REMIND 101 registration and text code).
In the meantime, we are advising all our Club staff and families to continue to take preventative measures as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Reliable sources of information: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the CT Department of Public Health are primary sources for information and offer information specific to child care programs and settings that serve young children. Individuals who have general questions that are not answered on these websites can also dial 2-1-1 for assistance. This hotline is available 24 hours a day and has multilingual assistance and TDD/TTY access for those with a hearing impairment. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. Please stay safe and remember the following prevention actions to mitigate the risk of exposure:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
- Stay home when sick
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using wipes or cleaners, and regularly use bleach-water solutions as a precautionary measure
- Wash your hands with soap and water often for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford condemns any act of racism or discrimination. We advocate for youth to have the same opportunities and encourage young people to harness the power of their voice. We believe it is critical for us to speak up and take action.
As a city, we can and must demand change to support black people and anyone who faces, systemic prejudices. Together we must listen and take action To ensure the future is great for the millions of kids that are counting on us.
